About this deal

You will get to find out the books he has written and the subjects of the books he has authored so far. Mike Majlak Books: Who is He? Honestly, I was expecting this to be a lot worse than it was. I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed certain aspects of this book and at how engaged I was throughout my reading. That being said, there were quite a few points where I wish a theme had been pushed further or I felt like this book didn't have as much emotional impact as it could have had. I only comment on the potential emotional impact because that seems to be a core goal of the book. Mike Majlak was a 17-year-old from a loving middle-class family in Milford, Connecticut, when he got caught up in the opioid epidemic that swept the nation. For close to a decade thereafter, his life was a wasteland of darkness and despair. While his peers were graduating from college, buying homes, getting married, having kids, and leading normal lives, Mike was snorting Oxycontin, climbing out of cars at gunpoint, and burying his childhood friends. The Fifth Vital is an amazing memoir by Mike Majlak. He recounts his troubled past with a detailed first person account. Before we delve more into your story, can you tell us when the turning point was for you, when you realized things had to change?

To have patience in your recovery, accountability, working to make things right in either your addiction or mental illness (it takes hard, hard work and training these things like a muscle), and self-forgiveness. More than anything else, find out what your biggest burden is right now. If it’s drugs, then getting clean is the first step. If it’s mental illness, then getting stable is your first step, whether it’s rehab, hospitalization, or whatever is needed. Mike Majlak was born on January 13, 1985, in Milford Connecticut. After graduating high school in 2003, Majlak attended Fordham University but did not complete his degree. [4] Career [ edit ] Podcast Co-host [ edit ] Mike Majlak (the author) struggled with addiction in his early life. For10 yearsas a drug addict, he faced multiple near-death experiences and waslet go byfamily and friends. The story begins in high school, where his addiction started, and continues through the journey of the effects on his life. It ends with how he turned his life around and is now amajor influencer. I have never understood why "influencers' are given such power. Its all a bit silly and I will never understand their "importance", these people that become celebrities because they put videos and tweets on social media. Yes, social media is important, I would not be able to write this review without it, but I certainly don't expect loads and loads of people to suddenly decide my every word is gold. How long has The Fifth Vital been in the making? I started writing the book in 2012. I know it’s crazy to imagine that almost eight years of work has gone into the book. I then met my writing partner Riley in 2019, and we worked hard to get the book over the finish line in six months to become what it is today. So it’s been quite a long journey. downstairs to help him. That was the lowest point of my life and a regret I’ll have forever. It was also a turning point when I knew I couldn’t continue on this path any longer. Takes a severe plummet in quality around the final third / quarter. The part documenting the post-rehab years. Not exactly because of that but I understand it’s harder to make stories of anxiety in recovery as interesting as guns and class A’s. But the narrative tried too hard to counter that, resulting in cliche and melodrama. I’m sure I don’t need to explain why ending a chapter: “ I had no idea what was in store...” (yes including the ellipsis) makes me less interested to find out, not more. The prose towards the beginning , while not exactly sophisticated , could have an intelligent flourish, so it feels like the whole thing ran out of steam.

Now he’s a social media personality with millions of followers, and an entrepreneur, marketer, podcaster, YouTuber, and author who hopes to use his voice to shine a light for those whose own lights have grown dim. It is always easy to judge those who find their way living this path. In reading this first hand account, I find myself understanding the situation better. I do wish that it had leaned a little bit farther into the critical research realm and out of the self help realm. And in the same vein I wish that it took more time to analyze emotion and actually showcase some of the self reflection mentioned throughout the latter half of the book rather than focusing on a detailed and linear accounting of events. Along with “The Fifth Vital,” Mike Majlak and his friend and fellow YouTuber, Logan Paul, also co-authored two other books. The descriptions were grim, vile yet authentic. It made me cringe at the disgusting scenes which is a tribute to how well it was written. His life is full of lying, sneaking around, selling drugs, family problems, police problems, and a whole hell of a lot of danger. In 2018, he formed the podcast "Impaulsive with Logan Paul" alongside Logan Paul. The podcast publishes weekly episodes that feature guests within popular culture. Notable guests that have been on the show include boxer Mike Tyson, political commentator Ben Shapiro, and hip-hop artist 6ix9ine. [5] According to Forbes, The podcast has received over 100 million views since 2020. [6] Impaulsive won an award presented by Steamy for the best podcast of 2019. [7] Author [ edit ] He is known mainly as a social media star and YouTuber who also hosts podcast shows, but he has also dabbled in writing books that many people have found helpful. Which Mike Majlak books have you read, and what do you make of them? Hollywood. But more than anything, it’s a story of hope that will encourage any person in any predicament in their life to keep going. It’s important for me to relay the message to people that no matter what the situation you’re in or how bad it is, if you put the right steps together, you will have the opportunity to not only survive but thrive at the highest levels of this world.

I read a lot of books on addiction and recovery and I mean I read A LOT of them and thoroughly zipped through this one.

In this article, we are going to talk about the books that the social media star has written in his career. Along with having millions of online followers, you’re also co-host of the number-one podcast in the world, Impaulsive. How does it feel to have the ability to reach millions of people to share your story? The author regularly calls himself a POS. Agreed. Others will listen to their story and also think so. So, we're in agreement. The extreme deranged selfishness as they made choice after choice knowing their actions harm others won't be forgiven by all readers. I will also just say that this is a painful and complicated read for family members of those who struggle with or are victims of addiction.
